What does MarksMenus do?
We help diners find accurate, up-to-date restaurant menus by putting those menus into a searchable, location-aware format. We help restaurateurs by providing a set of tools that makes it very easy to manage their menus and restaurant’s presence online.
How are they different?
For diners, we are like a “wikipedia” for restaurant menus. Don’t see a menu you want? You can add it yourself using our web-based tools. For restaurateurs, we are the only platform for restaurant menus that lets you take control of your menu data. You can even integrate your MarksMenus page into your own website, creating a one-top content solution.
Why could MarksMenus be BIG?
Currently, there isn’t a “go-to” web service for accessing reliable restaurant menus online. By putting the power in the hands of the diners and restaurateurs themselves to create and manage this content, we have a solution for creating the world’s largest, most accurate database of restaurant menus.
How they plan to make money:
For a monthly subscription fee, restaurateurs can make their restaurant a “premium” listing. Premium restaurants are promoted in search rankings and have access to a special set of management tools: PDF exporting, external site integration, web analytics, etc.
Our thoughts:
Interesting model, but like any digital content site, the challenge is always building that critical mass of users/listings. Love the idea of a menu-oriented Yelp though.
