What does Gift of Travel do?
Gift of Travel is the first company to focus exclusively on offering travel as a fundraising tool online and to multiple non-profits and charities worldwide. With the Travel as a Fundraiser™ tool, non-profits can provide a passive but definitely fun way for their supporters, staff and volunteers to generate a new source of revenue for the non-profit without having to write a donation check.
How are they different?
Gift of Travel provides non-profits an additional revenue stream by using the force of consumerism. We take a product consumers were likely to purchase anyway, a vacation, to generate a donation to a non-profit at no extra cost to the consumer. The Travel as a Travel as a Fundraiser™ tool is a year round, passive approach to fundraising generating donations that can be significantly more than selling candy bars! A 4% donation on a $5000 family vacation to Hawaii is $200. That really adds up!
Why could Gift of Travel be BIG?
Supporters and donors for non-profits are experiencing donor fatigue and are less inclined to open their checkbook to make yet another donation. However, supporters still travel/ vacation. If they have an option to book a vacation where a % of the total cost is donated back to the non-profit they are passionate about at no extra cost to them, they will use our tool. There are millions of non-profits in the United States, and all of them fundraise. Take millions of non-profits multiplied by ALL of their supporters, the potential is HUGE.
How they plan to make money:
Gift of Travel is not a travel company our tour operator so we have minimum overhead expense. Because our product is marketed virally through the non-profit to their supporters, we have minimum marketing expense. Gift of Travel has arrangements through our travel suppliers to earn commissions on the vacation packages booked. It is from these commissions that we make the 4% donation back to the non-profit – yet have enough margin and low expense to generate income for Gift of Travel. 10% of our profits will be donated to our own foundation, The Gift of Travel Foundation, to support non-profits that we ourselves are passionate about.
Our thoughts:
No thoughts at the moment. Very interesting!
