What does DormNoise do?

DormNoise is an interactive collegiate calendar system that gives students a series of interconnected personal, student group, and campus-wide calendars to organize all of their student events, and lets them sync everything to the most popular calendar applications and smartphones. By implementing DormNoise, colleges and universities gain access to a feature set that:
• Enhances communication and collaboration on a campus-wide basis
• Improves student organization, engagement, and awareness
• Increases attendance by students at campus events and participation by students in student groups
• Provides an interactive calendar for every student, every student group, and the campus as a whole
• Integrates and syncs the most popular online and mobile calendars that students use to try and stay organized (i.e., iCal, Outlook, Google Calendar, Blackberry Calendars, iPhone Calendars)

How are they different?

Integration and consistency. There are numerous calendars that students can use to stay organized, but only DormNoise integrates their personal, group and campus events in one centralized location—a problem that until now hasn’t had a solution. A student may have events on Facebook, Outlook, their smartphone, or just hand-written in an agenda or sticky note. But with DormNoise, colleges and universities, campus groups and students bring all their events into one, easy to use application that travels with them wherever they roam. To ensure consistency, higher education institutions use DormNoise as the mandatory calendaring system for all attending students. It’s much easier when everyone is on the same system, and harder to miss a deadline or event.

Why could DormNoise be BIG?

Consider the following scenario: you’re a new freshman walking across your campus. People hold out flyers and brochures advertising different clubs, fraternities and sororities, mixer events and other points of interest—so many attractive options to consider with no way to organize and prioritize those to pursue. DormNoise brings sanity to this chaos, and delivers it in a web and mobile based format based on individual preferences. Colleges are always looking for ways to boost participation at events and strive to be as communicative with their student communities as possible. Students have busy academic lives, and struggle to stay on top of their social calendar as well. Until now, a consistent platform for all of these activities has eluded the market. DormNoise solves these problems in a cost effective, engaging, and fun way that gets college students more involved and excited about campus events and activities, while helping them manage their busy social lives, too.

How they plan to make money:

DormNoise is built around an innovative business model that generates multiple revenue streams, including a per-student “seat” arrangement as well as a first-of-its-kind corporate sponsorship program that permits DormNoise to share revenue with its customer schools.
