What does uBuildApp do?
uBuildApp makes it easy for anyone to develop and release their own iPhone app to the iTunes store for just $199. All you have to do is use our simple Web interface to configure the app you want. Apps can be configured with your blog, news feed, Facebook fan page, map of locations, Twitter, pictures, video feeds, and more.
How are they different?
Unlike the others in this space, apps are unlimited in their potential and there are no monthly fees. Most of the other services are simple RSS feed readers, limit you to a few buttons, and have identical looks. We allow you to change the look of your app with custom backgrounds for pages, custom buttons for the various functions, and a sliding button bar to make it easy to navigate apps with more than five buttons.
Why could uBuildApp be BIG?
Everyone wants an app nowadays. By making the process simple, businesses no longer need to spend $5,000 just to get a basic app developed and submitted to Apple. For less than $200 and a little bit of their time they can have the app they want submitted without having to continue to pay monthly fees. Projections for the app market are in the hundreds of thousands of apps per year. We only need to tap a small percentage of this to reach some amazing revenue numbers.
How they plan to make money:
Sell apps at $199 each. Some customers will require custom apps which we build for anywhere from $500 to very simple apps to $5,000 for complex custom apps.
Our thoughts:
Love it! Cannot agree more with the statement that “everyone wants apps now,” yet customers are usually priced out of an actual purchase.
Hate to be down on a start-up, but these kinds of companies come and go with each new technology. Each new wave has a company spring up with a glorified WYSIWIG editor. Often after series B the market itself bursts and investors lose almost everything. Applications on the iPhone are already diluted, driving innovative applications away from $2.99 price tags. Basically $199 applications are dressed up websites and I can’t see something like this ever making it BIG.
