NutriSleuth.com – Connecting Food Consumers to Data

Posted by admin On July - 12 - 2010
NutriSleuth.com - NutriSleuth connects food consumers to data at the moment of purchase. Logo   Company NutriSleuth

What does NutriSleuth do?

NutriSleuth is a consumer health profile management platform offering tools to those suffering from food allergies and chronic conditions. These tools are used to ensure safety and encourage the user to explore products and places outside of their bubble.
NutriSleuth has 2 products: NutriSleuth iPhone App and NutriSleuth SafetyDine Restaurant Plugin
The mobile app is developed and ready for the App Store. It scans barcodes and cross references registered health profiles against the foods ingredients to alert the consumer of conflicts.
The NutriSleuth SafetyDine Restaurant Plugin lets users send a digital/standardized allergy profile to a restaurant when making a reservation to inform the establishment of their condition. In development.

How are they different?

NutriSleuth’s focus is on creating a trusted brand name for consumers to digitize and standardize their health profiles. Our core IP lies in the development of parameters to digitally map every possible variation of food labeling to allergies and chronic conditions (and UPCs by extension). Our work is backed by the leading food allergy organizations and world renowned dietitians.

Other developers work off of limited databases or have faulty parameters (one even displays an error on their iTunes screenshot!).

Restaurant and e-Commerce plug-ins were developed as one offs in house.

Why could NutriSleuth be BIG?

Creating the trusted brand for consumer food health presents a large opportunity for brands, retailers, restaurants, and anyone looking for consumer health data. NutriSleuth would be the channel to the 40 million Americans affected by food allergies, ~150 million Americans suffering from a chronic disease for the stated markets.

The Company has many macro factors supporting it including:
-Rapid smartphone adoption
-Funding and focus on healthcare technology and mHealth
-Increasing levels of food allergies per capita
-Offering the holy grail to brands in being able to connect to the consumer AT THE POINT OF PURCHASE.

How they plan to make money:

Revenue lines will include:
-Consumer app downloads at $4.99 per download
-Professional app downloads at $14.99 per download
-Sponsorship and advertising revenue within the consumer app
-White-label license revenue from healthcare payers, retailers, and clinical trial providers
-Powering supermarket e-Commerce sites with allergy filters
-Restaurant license fees
-Cross promotional opportunities with industry associations

Our thoughts:

No thoughts at the moment. Very interesting!
