What does NerdWallet do?
We are trying to revolutionize how consumers find credit card information online, by brining greater content, simple tools, and a Web 2.0 business model to a space dominated by SEO link farms.
How are they different?
Where other credit card sites limit your choices to a fee commission-paying cards, we already index 600 cards, only 10% of which pay commissions. Greater selection means greater rewards and lower interest rates for our users. We’re not supported by VC funding and therefore have the flexibility to provide a greater level of service with less focus on monetization.
Why could NerdWallet be BIG?
If you just want a credit card, you shouldn’t need to give all of your financial data to mint.com or billshrink. And you also shouldn’t be forced to limit your choices with sites like creditcards.com. So by providing a better toolset and more content, we’re confident we can eat into the search traffic of all these sites, and become the best site for complete and unbiased credit card info.
How they plan to make money:
Only a fraction of the cards in our database pay commissions, but since we don’t have investors to please, we have been cashflow positive from day one.
Our thoughts:
No thoughts at the moment. Very interesting!
