What does LastPass do?
LastPass has developed a browser-based application for easy, secure password and data management. We do three things: 1) Make the browsing experience easier by eliminating the need to remember logins and other sensitive data, 2) Make Internet surfing faster by autofilling forms and autologging into sites, and 3) Increase digital security by allowing users to generate unique passwords or use multifactor authentication while employing localized, military-level encryption so that no one has access to your data without your Master Password (even us). LastPass also allows users to store login information in an easy-to-access, searchable Vault, as well as securely share data with others.
How are they different?
Using an evolved host-proof hosting solution, LastPass employs military-level encryption (256-bit AES) and one-way salted hashes to give users complete security with the convenience of go-anywhere accessibility. We support all major browsers, operating systems, and smartphones, along with portable offerings and offline access – so you can securely access your account from just about anywhere.
Why could LastPass be BIG?
With the increase in reports of security breaches for major websites and mail clients, we need to be in control of our digital lives more than ever. But who has the ability or the time to remember dozens of unique sets of login data? While our minds struggle to keep track of an increasingly complex variety of online accounts, LastPass allows you to effortlessly save, organize, and access your login data. At LastPass, we believe the Internet should be a place where we connect, explore, shop and learn without the hassle of passwords, usernames, web forms and security threats. LastPass is everyone’s solution: a simple, secure, and free way to manage – and bulletproof – the data that gives us access to our digital lives.
How they plan to make money:
LastPass is dedicated to changing the ease of use and security for Internet users everywhere. That’s why we rely on a freemium business model – all basic features of the LastPass application are free, while advanced features like support for smartphones and multifactor authentication devices are part of LastPass Premium for $1/month. We’re committed to staying free, whether or not our users purchase our Premium service.
