What does Her Campus Media LLC do?
HerCampus.com is an online magazine for college women that individualizes its content college-by-college by establishing branches at schools across the country, supplementing national content with local content from 50+ schools, produced entirely by the nation’s top student journalists. In addition to its role as an online content provider, Her Campus serves as a marketing platform, connecting companies with college students across the country in creative ways.
Her Campus was founded in September 2009 by three Harvard undergrads after winning Harvard’s business plan competition, and the site has since grown to a team of 500+ college students with branches at 50+ colleges, content partnerships with Seventeen and The Huffington Post, and marketing partnerships with New Balance, Juicy Couture, Rent the Runway, and has been featured on ABC, AOL, CNN Money, and in Inc. magazine, Business Insider, The Boston Globe, U.S. News & World Report, seventeen.com, among others. My co-founders and I were also recently named to Inc. magazine’s 30 Under 30 Young Entrepreneurs.
How are they different?
Her Campus possesses a unique insight and direct reach to the college market via our combination of national content supplemented by local, on-the-ground branches at 50+ colleges across the country. We are the only magazine that speaks directly to college women with targeted content, and our presence at schools across the country enables us to execute strategic marketing programs for companies looking to reach the college market across many colleges at once.
Why could Her Campus Media LLC be BIG?
The college demographic is something many companies are looking to access, but it is difficult for them to do so on their own. The 9 million college women that Her Campus targets have significant purchasing power and are ideal customers for companies to look to build brand loyalty with at this stage in their lives (age 18-22). Her Campus seeks to position itself as the College Experts, becoming the go-to source for all things college-related.
How they plan to make money:
We execute strategic marketing programs for colleges looking to reach the college market, through a combination of online and offline initiatives, including sponsored content, campus brand rep programs, product distribution, product sampling, among other services.
