What does Green Bride Guide do?

The Green Bride Guide offers everything couples need to make eco-conscious choices on their wedding day. The site offer pictures and stories from real green weddings, articles and expert advice on eco-chic decor, and a wide range of green wedding gifts and travel packages. We also have the largest green wedding directory in the country, to help couples connect with local vendors and support the green economy.

How are they different?

We are the only site exclusively dedicated to green weddings that allows other companies to list their products and services in a comprehensive marketplace setting. 85% of couples are concerned about greenwashing – the passing off of non-green items as eco-friendly. Each vendor and product is vetted by the company and visitors can see detailed information on what makes them green. Products in the shop can also be sorted by eco-strategy and third party certification.

Why could Green Bride Guide be BIG?

Weddings are a $60B industry, and this year the online market for green wedding products and services is $1.2B. The Green Bride Guide is the industry leader in the space and continues to grow.

The company just launched the first green wedding gift registry with Carbon Neutral shipping, which builds a viral marketing component into the site. The average wedding has 160 guests, and if every couple on the site created a registry and told their guests about it, that would be 2.2 million people.

The company also owns The Green Home Guide, The Green Baby Guide, and 50 other domain names. The idea is to follow couples through a series of life cycle events and help them go green along the way. The Knot, the largest wedding site online, did this successfully with The Knot, The Nest and The Bump.

How they plan to make money:

The company has several sources of revenue including:

Vendor listing fees (like a Yellow Pages for green weddings)
Product sales (drop ship mean no inventory)
Advertising
Service commissions

Our thoughts:

No thoughts at the moment. Very interesting!
