What does EcoPlum do?
EcoPlum is a green shopping rewards site and Eco-Chic online magazine that makes it fun, easy and rewarding to go green. Purchases through EcoPlum earn EcoChipz, used for discounts on future purchases, or donated to environmental causes. EcoPlum’s mission is to foster environmental stewardship by educating and empowering consumers to make responsible choices. We want to engage with a community of people who are conscious of their daily habits, purchases, and impact on the world’s limited resources.
The EcoPlum Blog, Confessions of a Reformed Consumer, follows Gia’s personal journey from an over-consuming, waste-producing materialist to an informed environmentalist. Monthly columns on Ecoplum by industry experts cover Eco-Friendly Beauty, Green Entertainment, Green Interior Design, Local and Organic Cooking, and Greening Our Schools.
Gia and EcoPlum have been featured on Green is Good Radio, WOR Talk Radio, WomenEntrepreneur.com, Crains’s New York, Triple Pundit’s Green Business Blog Carnival, GenGreenLife, Greenwala, Twittermoms, Woman Owned New York and many other green business blogs and websites.
How are they different?
We are the only Green Shopping Rewards website out there. Our products are carefully selected “Plum Picks” that are all certified or otherwise eco-labeled (or incredibly obviously eco-friendly). Our content is unique and our writers are accomplished experts in their fields. Our team has experience with startups, and is dynamic, fun and well rounded. We engage with our community on a personal level and have a great following on Facebook and Twitter.
Why could EcoPlum be BIG?
People (especially moms) are looking for ways to go green without breaking their budget and without making major changes in their lifestyle. We give people the incentives and resources to do this while being part of a fun, engaging, and informative community.
How they plan to make money:
You had to ask? Just kidding. Our revenue comes from product sales, referrals and advertising. We are considering subscriptions, listing fees, syndication, contests, sponsorships, etc. as new revenue sources. Any other ideas are quite welcome!
Our thoughts:
No thoughts at the moment. Very interesting!
