What does DrChrono.com do?

We build Web-based practice management software for hospitals and private practice physicians. This is combined with our flagship product: a native EMR app for the iPad.

How are they different?

We are the first and only company to have a native EMR/EHR application for any tablet device. The iPad EMR app is only the first step, as we have been working on producing a version for Android OS-enabled devices, including the newly announced Cisco Cius.

Our service platform is unique as well, in three ways:

1. Our entry price point is vastly more aggressive than any other product on the market.

2. We give an iPad to all our customers who sign up for our practice management suite (when was the last time you were give a computer with your software?).

3. Our interests are aligned with our customers. Unlike other billing software/services, we only take 3% of what a doctor gets PAID by the insurance company (as opposed to 10% of what’s BILLED).

Why could DrChrono.com be BIG?

The iPad is the first real breakthrough in tablet computing, and has already taken the health care industry by storm. 10% of the 300,000 pre-ordered iPads were placed by medical professionals.

The Obama Administration is requiring all physicians to adopt EMR systems by 2014. Ours is the only one on the market optimized for tablet platforms.

How they plan to make money:

We charge a nominal start-up fee, along with a fixed monthly fee for the use of our practice management system. In addition, we take 3% physician revenue. The are an estimated 800,000 physicians in the U.S., all of whom will be required to use an EMR by 2014. Assuming an annual revenue of approximately $300K and a 15% market share equals a near $1 billion in annual revenue.

Our thoughts:

No thoughts at the moment. Very interesting!
