What does Confident Technologies, Inc. do?
How image-based authentication works: The first time a user registers with a website they select categories of common things, such as dogs, flowers and cars. Every time they log in after that, they are presented with a grid of randomly generated pictures, each with a letter overlaid on the picture. They simply identify the pictures that fit their chosen categories and enter the corresponding letter as the one-time access code.
Confident Technologies also provides an image-based verification test to stop computer bots from posting spam and malicious content on websites. Our solution is an alternative to those warped and distorted words that users are forced to decipher to prove that they are human. Rather than presenting a hard-to-read word, we present a randomly-generated grid of pictures and instruct the user to click on specific pictures – such as, “Click on the cat, the clock and the boat, in that order.”
How are they different?
Why could Confident Technologies, Inc. be BIG?
Confident Technologies solutions also have the potential to create an entirely new online advertising channel. There are approximately 400 million CAPTCHA verification tests solved on the Web every day and approximately 3 billion website logins per day. Websites using Confident Technologies’ solutions could choose to display sponsored pictures of their own products or services within the image grid during the login process or the CAPTCHA verification test. Because users are presented with the image grid upon login or verification, they are guaranteed to see the advertising image.
How they plan to make money:
Our thoughts:
Great idea. Also, fantastic for those who struggle to see small letters etc…the image/picture is so much easier and less frustrating. A user would be much more likely to conitinue on the application process/sign in if it is easier to do.
