What does HollyStock do?
HollyStock is a free web-based game that monitors the news of hundreds of entertainment websites and assigns values to celebrities mentioned in each article. A celebrity’s value rises with the number of mentions as well as the quality of the site providing the mention. Players are encouraged to buy low and sell high. The player with the highest net worth at the end of the league wins.
How are they different?
It is an engaging game that allows friends to compete against each other by buying celebrities when their value is low and selling them when their value is high. The game combines the competition aspect of fantasy sports with the juicy news of celebrities and tops it off with the dynamics of the stock market.
Why could HollyStock be BIG?
There are other celebrity-based games out there, but none with the dynamic real-time nature of HollyStock. Millions of people follow celebrities and HollyStock gives them the chance to not only follow celebs, but share the stories with friends and family in a way that is fun and meaningful. The Facebook integration allows Facebook users to play the game without having to go through the registration process.
How they plan to make money:
Advertising, in-site sponsorship, future plans for premium services on top of the free game
