GetSweaty.com – Online Perspiration Inspiration for Kids

GetSweaty.com - Online Perspiration Inspiration for Kids Logo Company GetSweaty.com, Inc.
http://www.getsweaty.com
Founded: January, 2009
City: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
Country: United States
CEO: Angel Cicerone
Founders: Angel Cicerone, Benita Appel
Category: Digital Content (Blogs, Websites) Funding: Self-Funded
Tags: childhood obesity prevention, fitness for kids, free online fitness Employees: 2-5

What does GetSweaty.com, Inc. do?

GetSweaty.com is the first video-based website that provides daily physical activity for kids.Use of the site is completely free to kids, parents and teachers.
Upon logging in, kids find a new, different and fun video workout each day called the Daily Sweat. Kids earn points for working out which they can redeem for free prizes.

GetSweaty also has a back-end technology for teachers which allows them to use it on one computer in a group setting (ie the classroom)and with the push of a button, assign points to the entire class. Teachers are also incentivized with a Cash for Cash program.

How are they different?

There’s a lot of talk about the fight against childhood obesity and keeping our kids healthy, however, there are very few practical tools. GetSweaty is available for individual kids to use at home where they can exercise privately – an especially important aspect for those who are overweight or awkward. Or it can be used in group settings (schools, not-for-profits organizations,etc.).

No other website provides high quality daily exercise videos. We not only offer something new each day, the videos are shot for entertainment as well as educational value. The site allows kids to put their own background in each video (workout at the beach today?), keep track of their goals and points on their personalized profile page and learn about health and fitness from a kids perspective.

With PE classes being cut and unfunded physical activity mandates in schools, GetSweaty provides a free and easy- to- use classroom tool.

Why could GetSweaty.com, Inc. be BIG?

GetSweaty is an exciting new way to deliver physical fitness. It is currently in use by individual kids and schools in all 50 states.

We believe GetSweaty has the key elements necessary for success:
• The perfect match of target and advertiser
• Fills a need in the marketplace that is currently unmet
• As a free solution, it has few, if any, obstacles to rapid
growth and adoption
• It can be marketed through third parties, thereby
reducing marketing costs while expediting speed to
market
• It takes advantage of the growth cycle of internet usage
and online advertising spending
• It provides a practical solution to a high-visibility social
issue.

Upon establishing the GetSweaty brand, opportunities for additional revenue streams abound, including merchandise sales, licensing and expansion of the brand to additional targets.

How they plan to make money:

Initially, GetSweaty.com will make its money through advertiser support. It is currently the only advertising opportunity available in the online tween health and fitness space. GetSweaty.com offers a truly unique opportunity for marketers who wish to reach this elusive market, build brand awareness in an authentic manner and create good will.

City: Arlington, Virginia

CEO: Andrew Wilson
Founders: Andrew Wilson
Category: eCommerce Funding: Self-Funded
Tags: application essay, college, admission, higher education, service Employees: 1

What does ReadyEssay, LLC do?

I have a network of former colleagues, college admission professionals, who help me read and review college admission essays. We do so in the same manner it’s done in college admission offices across the country. And we do so at a cost we think is realistic and fair, $25.

How are they different?

We undercut private college admission consults, many of whom lack experience and charge hundreds of dollars for a similar service. Basically, we’re committed to putting students, not profits, first.

Why could ReadyEssay, LLC be BIG?

We maintain the largest repository of real college admission essays on the internet. More and more colleges are starting to worry about fraud in the college admission process. Where can they turn if they believe a college admission essay has been plagiarized? ReadEssay.com! They can search our database…for a fee, of course!

How they plan to make money:

Review service fees, re-review service fees, advertising, college and university contracts

Plumeblue.com – Event-based online dating

plumeblue.com - Event-based online dating Logo Company Plume Blue
http://plumeblue.com
Founded: 03/01/2010
City: Plume Blue, Minnesota
Country: United States
CEO: Stacy Becker
Founders: Stacy Becker
Category: Other Funding: Self-Funded
Tags: local, online dating, internet dating, Minneapolis, Twin Cities Employees: 2-5

What does Plume Blue do?

Plume Blue provides an online dating services that connects members with each other through self-chosen activities. Members post and respond to dates, which ensures that our members will always be doing something they enjoy on their dates.

How are they different?

Plume Blue has restructured online dating at multiple layers to offer a very different experience. Most online dating sites have three components that they all construct in the same way: self-representation, discovery of others, and communication. Plume Blue has changed each. The most important, though, is that we’ve modified how people find each other. Our members post and respond to dates. There is no exhaustive search through profiles. On other sites, members communicate with each other, then decide if they want to meet and what they want to do, which inevitably leads to a monotonous lunch or coffee. We’ve reordered the process. Our users post dates (like comedy, a picnic etc) so that the event has been decided in advance. This means that every date will be something fun, which in turn means that even if you dont “click” with your date, youll still have a reasonably good time.

Why could Plume Blue be BIG?

Plume Blue could be big because of the common disenchantment among online daters. Most people don’t like online dating, but have no other options. Plume Blue marries the idea of meeting people with the concept that it can still be fun. The online dating industry is huge and populated by sites that are all fundamentally the same. Plume Blue is different.

How they plan to make money:

Plume Blue will charge a basic and relatively cheap membership fee. We don’t want to fleece our members, but at the same time we’d like them to make an active decision to participate. Additionally, Plume Blue is connecting local businesses with our members to provide date ideas. Eventually this will be monetized as with business subscription plan.

Category: Web Apps/Tools/Widgets Funding: Self-Funded

What does Teamly do?

Teamly has developed a productivity and people management SaaS web app for SMBs. For business owners and managers it solves the problem of how to make sure your staff are productive and effective, and how to keep on top of their commitments to you, without micro-managing them.

How are they different?

It makes users think about what is really important in their companies, commit to these priorities and then share these for review by their manager and team-mates. It combines priority and goal setting for the individual with real-time information on staff for managers. The key premise of Teamly is that by focusing on less things, you will achieve more, and that explains our strapline which is “Get The Right Work Done”.

Why could Teamly be BIG?

The leading SaaS player in the performance management category is SuccessFactors, with projected revenue this year of $200M. Their product is enterprise focused. There is nothing equivalent for SMBs, and awareness of this category is growing. The market itself is growing at 20% per annum.

How they plan to make money:

Currently we are still in beta and have no revenue. Teamly will remain free for single users, but in the new year we will start charging businesses for team access. This will be a typical SaaS product with a low per user subscription fee, and first month free.
